For PC-98 era of Touhou, it's hard for me to say when I got into it, but I presume I first got interested in it when I saw footage of YuugenMagan from Touhou 1 in a video about Touhou around... 2016 I think?

I do have fanart of Touhou 1 characters from 2016, so that is my estimate. I can assume Touhou 1 being my first exposure to PC-98 is also why I'm so attached to it, instead of like Mystic Square or Lotus Land Story.

The reason why my younger self got more into PC-98 era of Touhou is... a mystery to me but nowadays it's the old doujin feel and pixel art that keeps me attached.

Touhou games are already pretty indie/doujin game like (because they are) but PC-98 era games to me turn it up a notch and I have a soft spot for it. I also just think the PC-98 art is super cute and I do actually prefer it over some of the Windows Era art.
